HOW MICROCRUSH WORKS

CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL OF WINEMAKING INVOLVEMENT:
Be as involved in the winemaking process as you like.  Whatever your level of involvement, we’ll guide you every step of the way and take care of all the details. Great wine, personalized winemaking, and relaxed fun.

GRAPES TO BOTTLE WINEMAKING

Fruit
You don’t need to own a vineyard to make wine at Judd’s Hill. With our 30-year history in the Napa Valley we are able to secure premium grapes from some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. All you need is 1/2 ton of grapes to create a barrel of wine. The cost of grapes vary depending on the varietal, appellation and current market price.

Crush
We work hand-in-hand with the growers and vineyard managers to ensure grapes are harvested at the optimum brix and maturity.  Incoming grapes are then hand-sorted so that only the ripest, most intact berries make it to our crusher/destemmer.  Fermenters are selected to accommodate your production, both large and small.

Winemaking
Meet one-on-one with our award-winning winemakers prior to harvest to discuss your targeted wine style, then stay involved throughout the process by sampling and discussing the progress of your wine during the aging period. When it comes closer to bottling time, sit down for a blending session to create a balanced wine, tailored for your unique palate.

Packaging
We offer several choices when it comes to packaging that allow you to create the finished look that you want for your wine. When it comes time to create your label, we work closely with your graphic designer to make sure that it’s ready when your wine is. If you don’t have a designer, we can recommend one for you, or you can choose one of our many “House” designs. TTB (Tax and Trade Bureau) approval is built into our all-inclusive pricing.

Bottling
Bottling is the final step in the winemaking cycle and can be one of the most crucial. Our experienced team takes great care to oversee the transfer of your wine from barrel or tank to bottle, using our state-of-the-art, in-house bottling line. Having our own bottling line allows us the flexibility to bottle throughout the year, when your wine is ready.

PREMIUM FINISHED WINE BARRELS

Interested in getting your wine into bottle sooner? We’ve set aside a selection of our premium finished Judd’s Hill wine barrels specifically for those of you who don’t have time to go through the entire winemaking process. We offer several varietals, all of which are ready to custom blend and bottle.

Sustainable Solutions for the Future

Growing up in the Napa Valley and loving the land as we do, all of our Judd’s Hill and MicroCrush wines are made in our certified Napa Valley Green Winery, designed to minimize our impact on the land. The use of environmentally efficient drainage, solar lighting, and an aggressive recycling and composting program are a few ways that our winery uses smart design to make a difference. We are committed to the Green Winery design, and continue to update and incorporate more effective strategies while still maintaining the quality we are known for.
